Chloe Madeley says husband James Haskell is ‘furious’ she won’t take his name | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Chloe Madeley is probably best known for being the daughter of TV couple Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, but she now says her “mega-traditional” husband James is impatient for her to become a Haskell like him.

The 36-year-old personal trainer, who shares baby daughter Bodhi with the former rugby star, claimed in a recent interview: “I’m not going through all the admin and hoopla before I absolutely have to, and James is furious about it because he’s really traditional.”

She added, while chatting with Johnny Seifert on his Secure The Insecure Podcast, that she’s “in no mad rush” to change the name on her passport or credit cards.

However, she did alter the name of her fly-on-the-wall TV series, Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair, at the last minute to save her husband’s feelings.

“James is a Haskell [and our daughter] Bodhi is a Haskell, so it’s not fair on them to call [the show] At Home With The Madeleys,” she reasoned.

The model and fitness trainer added: “James is mega traditional and… His male ego would have been dented for life if we’d call it that!”

She elaborated: “He wants to feel like I’ve taken on his name and I’m proud of it and I wear it like a badge of honour.”

However, Chloe admitted that in reality, the decision will be a “bittersweet” one for her, and that there will be an “element of sadness” when she finally leaves behind the formal association with her parents’ surname.

She continued that she intends to “raise a glass of champagne” to mark the moment when it comes.

Yet Chloe also admitted that, despite her close connection with her parents, there was another reason why she’d opted out of her show’s original intended name, At Home With The Madeleys.

She revealed she hadn’t wanted to give the “very wrong, strong impression that this is a Richard and Judy reality show”.

“I didn’t want to tar them with that tacky brush. It’s not fair on the audience. It’s not fair on the family,” the mum-of-one insisted.

Chloe and James have been married for almost five years after tying the knot back in December 2018, and they welcomed their little girl in 2022.

Meanwhile, Chloe also addressed their previously active sex life earlier in the year, explaining that motherhood – and the impact of coronavirus – changed their lifestyle drastically at one point.

“Our sex life took a nosedive and absolutely dried up in lockdown,” she told The Sun.

“It surprised me, because James and I have always been really sexually compatible and I always assumed these lulls would never happen to us.”

Meanwhile, rugby union legend James previously admitted to the same publication that he saw sex as a “competitive sport”.
