Robbie Williams had several ‘splits’ with wife before Hollywood pal saved them | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV
Robbie Williams has revealed that he suffered multiple “break-ups” with his now wife Ayda Field, before two Hollywood stars stepped in to save their relationship.
The former Take That singer has candidly opened up about his marriage to actress Ayda in his highly-anticipated Netflix documentary which lands this week.
Prior to their wedding in 2010, the pair reportedly broke up three times whilst they were dating.
Speaking on their podcast At Home with the Williams, Ayda said that the duo experienced an early rocky stage, to which Robbie said: “By dark things you mean finishing with you three times.”
However, it wasn’t until two actress pals jumped in to give some wise words to Robbie that he saw sense.
Robbie explained: “I bumped into Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore.
“I started talking about this person I’d just ended a relationship with and was listing all these things about her brilliance when Cameron said, ‘I don’t think it’s over.’
“At that moment the universe spoke to me. I left and went straight to Ayda’s house and committed to her.”
The new Netflix documentary, titled Robbie Williams, takes a deeper look into the singer’s early career with boyband Take That, experiencing fame as a solo artist and dealing with his drug abuse.
Directed by Joe Pearlman, the documentary mixes old videos with Robbie’s own commentary on his ambition and mental health.
During one episode, the Angels songwriter opens up about experiencing a panic attack moments before performing on stage in Leeds to a crowd of 90,000 people.
“I can see the eyes, you can see the eyes, right?” Robbie recalled.
“What am I seeing?” asked the cameraman as the singer shot back: “Trauma.”
Robbie and Ayda share four children together, Teddy, Charlie, Coco and Beau.
Robbie Williams lands on Netflix on Wednesday, November 8.
