Sue Cleaver ‘incensed’ by weight loss hoax using her name after health struggle | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV
Sue Cleaver addressed her Instagram followers in a video posted to her page detailing how she had received messages asking her about “keto gummies”.
The Coronation Street actress said it was “obviously a scam” using her name to promote weight loss supplements and warned fans not to be “taken in by it”.
She said: “Really really sad that I have to actually make this video, but I’ve had quite a lot of messages over the last couple of weeks asking me about keto gummies, there’s obviously some scam going around saying I lost weight using keto gummies, well it is c**p.
“It’s a scam and if you have been taken by it, I’m so so sorry. It’s outrageous, I just want you to know that I would never, ever, ever advocate anything like that.
“I am incensed, I am absolutely incensed. Yes, I lost some weight last year, I stopped drinking and I went in the jungle.
“Yes I have lost weight this year, but not from any diet. I had some women’s health issues and I lost quite a lot of weight, too much weight, I look shocking at the minute and I am trying to put on weight.
“Life’s too short to worry about dieting and finding quick fixes, just be happy with yourself, you’re a beautiful human being. It drives me insane,” she added.
The soap legend, who is best known for playing Eileen Grimshaw in Coronation Street, shed three stone after she was diagnosed with a serious health condition.
Viewers took to Twitter last month to discuss the weight loss of the actress when she made a cameo back on the cobbles.

Sue, who has played Eileen since 2000, has dropped several dress sizes since first appearing on our screens due to being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.
She received hospital treatment after collapsing on the set of Coronation Street.
According to the NHS, diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person’s blood sugar level to become too high. There are two main types of diabetes. Type 2 diabetes – the type Sue has – is when the sufferer’s body cannot produce enough insulin. In the UK, around 90 percent of all adults with diabetes have Type 2.
Sue embarked on a health journey and transformed her diet – going from a size 16 to a 12 in 2019. The soap star is said to favour the Mediterranean diet, which is high in vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, beans, cereals, grains, fish and unsaturated fats such as olive oil and usually includes a low intake of meat and dairy foods.
Discussing Sue’s weight loss previously, a source told Woman magazine:
“Sue was always a self-confessed foodie, who admitted that over-indulgence was her Achilles Heel. Now everything’s changed. Sue’s in her mid-50s so it was a no-brainer that cutting down on certain things was what she had to do.”
She also lost some weight on I’m a Celebrity and later said: “I lost some weight in the jungle, but I’m not obsessing over diets: life is hard enough! There’s always going to be outside pressure and unfair expectations placed on women, but I refuse to get pulled into it.
