Storm Debi to strike Britain in hours as Met Office issues 14 hour weather warning | Weather | News

The Met Office has issued a massive 14 hour yellow weather warning for huges swathes of England, Wales and Northern Ireland tomorrow as the country is set to be battered by wind and rain from Storm Debi.

Across England and Wales tomorrow, a yellow weather warning for wind is in place from 4am until 6pm tomorrow.

In Northern Ireland, a warning for wind and rain has been issued from 3am to 2pm.

The weather agency warns that there is a danger to life and a risk of injuries from flying debris as a result of the approaching winds.

It may also cause travel disruption.

The Met Office said: “Storm Debi is expected to develop and move across Ireland and northern England on Monday.

“Whilst there is still some uncertainty in the exact track and depth of this low, there is a chance of very strong westerly winds developing along Irish Sea coasts of Wales and northwest England on Monday morning before extending inland during day, slowly easing later.

“There is a chance of 60-65 mph gusts developing inland and 70-80 mph around coasts, and over some higher ground, such as the Pennines.”
