Manchester United are already playing catch up to their rivals after a second disappointing display to start the Premier League season was punished in a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday. Erik ten Hag’s side got away with it against Wolves in their opener despite being below par, but Tottenham weren’t as forgiving in north London.
United were wasteful with the few chances they did have and looked all over the place in defence at times. It’s left Ten Hag with plenty of work to do in the next few weeks to try and get his side firing on all cylinders.
There’s still time left in the transfer window to bring in one more player as another midfielder is wanted. But United are reliant on outgoings first to help raise funds with Sofyan Amrabat and Ryan Gravenberch seen as top targets.
