US Open LIVE: Andy Murray’s old coach in X-rated gaffe as Coco Gauff wades into row | Tennis | Sport

Novak Djokovic’s US Open semi-final opponent Ben Shelton admitted that he was in a “lot of pain” after defeating fellow American Frances Tiafoe on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old defeated Tiafoe 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7), 6-2 in just his fifth appearance at a Major, to set up a clash with the titan Djokovic – before giving away that he was in physical pain ahead of their meeting.

“It’s tough,” Shelton admitted. “I’m thinking to myself as I’m walking to get my towel in the fourth set, and it’s, like, this is the greatest moment on the tennis court of my life, and I’m in a lot of pain, you know, physically! But I’m loving it. That was just kind of the story of today.”
